The four young people that have been elected will now serve a two year term of office representing Sunderland on a regional and national level. They will also work locally alongside Sunderland Youth Parliament
Previous MYPs have campaigned for you with Members of Parliament, Government Ministers, as well as local Councillors and officers from Sunderland City Council. Through your elected MYPs your voice has been getting louder on a national level with Sunderland's MYPs taking part in debates and votes in the Houses of Parliament in 2008 and 2009. For more information about the UK Youth parliament visit their website 'here': www.ukyouthparliament.org.uk
Candidates who were not elected to the UK Youth Parliament have been invited to an open evening at Sunderland Youth Parliament so that they can look at ways to get involved locally so that they can explore other youth participation opportunities in the City.
